အတိုချုံးပြောရရင်
တခါတလေ လူတယောက်က ရဲတွေရဲ့ ဖိနှိပ်မှုကိုဖီဆန်ပြီး ရပ်နေလိုက်ရုံလေးက လူသန်းပေါင်းများစွာ ပါဝင်တဲ့ လှုပ်ရှားမှုကြီးကို အသက်ဝင်လာစေဖို့ လုံလောက်တယ်။ ၂၀၁၃ တူရကီမှာ အဲ့အတိုင်း အတိအကျဖြစ်ခဲ့တာပါပဲ။
၂၀၁၃ မေလ ၂၈ ရက်နေ့ အစ္စတန်ဘူးမြို့လယ်က လှပတဲ့ Taksim Gezi ပန်းခြံထဲမှာ သဘာဝ ပတ်ဝင်းကျင် ထိန်းသိမ်းရေး လှုပ်ရှားတဲ့သူ တသိုက် လူစုကြတယ်။ စုကြတာက သစ်ပင်တွေကို နုတ်ပစ်တာကို ကန့်ကွက်ဖို့ပဲ။ သိပ်မကြာခင်မှာပဲ ပန်းခြံထဲကို လူတွေ အမျာကြီး ရောက်လာပါရော။ ဒီလှုပ်ရှားမှုဟာ တူရကီနိုင်ငံတဝန်းလုံးကို ပြန့်သွားပြီး တူရကီနိုင်ငံသား သန်းပေါင်းများစွာဟာ လမ်းမပေါ်ရောက်လာကြတော့တယ်။
သစ်ပင်တွေ နှုတ်တဲ့ကိစ္စက မီးပွားလေး တစပါပဲ။ ဒါပေမဲ့ လောင်စာတွေကတော့ အများကြီး။ ရဲအင်အားများလွန်းတာ၊ တူရကီ မီဒီယာတွေ နှုတ်ဆိတ်နေတာနဲ့ အာဏာရပါတီ ဖြစ်တဲ့
AKP ပါတီဟာဟာ တူရကီ သမ္မတနိုင်ငံရဲ့ အခြေခံမူတွေဖြစ်တဲ့ ဘာသာရေး မဖက်တဲ့ ဥပဒေ တည်ထောင်ရေး၊ တရားမျှတမှုရေးရေးတို့ကို အလေးမထားတာတွေ ပါဝင်တယ်။ ရဲဘက်က တုန့်ပြန်မှုက ရက်စက်ကြမ်းကျုပ်လွန်းခဲ့တယ်။ ကျနော် အစ္စတန်ဘူးကို ဇွန်လ ၁၇ ရက်နေ့မှာ ရောက်တော့ လူလေးယောက် အသတ်ခံခဲ့ရပြီးပြီ၊ လူပေါင်း ၆ထောင်ကျော် ဒါဏ်ရာရတယ်။ ၆၅ဉီးကတော့ အမြင်အာရုံဆုံးရှုံးခဲ့တယ်။ Taksim Squareကို ရဲတွေ ရှင်းလင်းခဲ့ပြီး ဆန္ဒပြသူတွေကို ခြေမှုန်းတယ်။ ကျနော်လည်း တိုးရစ်တွေ ကြားမှာ ပိတ်မိနေပါရော။ ဒီလို အကြမ်းဖက် နှိမ်နင်းတာတွေ လုပ်တာကြောင့် ကျနော် လုပ်နိုင်တာ တခုပဲ ကျန်တယ်။ အဲဒါကတော့ မလှုပ်မရှားပဲ ကျောက်ရုပ်ကြီးလို မတ်တပ်ရပ်နေတာ။

မလှုပ်မရှားပဲ မတ်တပ်ရပ်တဲ့ လှုပ်ရှားမှုဟာ အစီအစဉ်ချပြီး လှုပ်ရှားတဲ့ ဆန္ဒပြတာ မဟုတ်ဘူး။ ကြိုတွေးထားတာလည်း မဟုတ်ဘူး။ မီဒီယာတွေကိုလည်း ကြိုပြောမထားဘူး။ လူတွေ သတိထားမိပါ့လားတောင် ကိုယ့်ဟာကိုယ် သိပ်သေချာတာ မဟုတ်ဘူး။ Takism Square ထဲက Atatürk Culture Centre (AKM) ကို မျက်နှာမူပြီး ကျောက်ရုပ်ကြီးလို မတ်တပ်ရပ်နေလိုက်တယ်။ ကျနော့် ရှေ့တည့်တည့်မှာ တူရကီအလံက တဖျက်ဖျက်လွင့်လို့။
နိုင်ငံ့ ထိပ်တန်း အေဂျင်စီ ဖြစ်တဲ့ Anadolu Agencyဟာ Takism Square ကို အပေါ်ကနေ လှမ်းမြင်နေရတဲ့နေရာမှာ ရုံးခန်းဖွင့်ထားမှန်း သိထားတယ်။ ကျနော် စပြီး ကျောက်ရုပ်လို မတ်တပ်ရပ်နေလိုက်တော့တယ်။
ဆန္ဒပြပွဲ သတင်းတွေကို ဖော်ပြနေတဲ့ မီဒီယာတွေရဲ့ မျက်နှာလိုက်မှုနဲ့ ဗလောင်းဗလဲ သတင်းတွေ ဖြန့်နေတာကို ကျနော် အတော် စိတ်ပျက်မိတာ။ အခုတော့ Anadolu agency ရုံးရှေ့တည့်တည့်မှာ ရပ်၊ ဝန်ကြီးချုပ် Erdogan ကို အာဏာဖီဆန် ဆန္ဒပြနေတာကိုမှ မမြင်ချင်ယောင်ဆောင်ပြီး ဆန္ဒပြတာတွေ ပြီးသွားပါပြီလို့ ဗြောင်လိမ် ဗြောင်စား လုပ်အုံးမလား ပြောစမ်း။ နောက်တခုက အခုနှစ်ပိုင်းအတွင်းမှာ ယဉ်ကျေးမှုနဲ့ အနုပညာ စင်တာတွေ တခုပြီး တခု ဆုံးရှုံးရပြီး အခုတော့ Ataturk Culture center ကိုပါ ဖျက်သိမ်းဖို့ အမိန့်ပေးလိုက်တာကို အနုပညာရှင် တယောက်အနေနဲ့ ခံပြင်း ဒေါသထွက်တာလည်း ပါတယ်။ Atatürk ဆိုတာ တူရကီနိုင်ငံအတွက်ရော၊ အနုပညာအတွက်ပါ အများကြီး အလုပ်လုပ်ပေးခဲ့တာ။ သူ့နာမည်ကိုနဲ့ အနုပညာ စင်တာကြီး ရှေ့မှာ ရပ်နေတဲ့အခါ သူ့အတွက် ဂုဏ်ယူတာရော စင်တာကြီး တည်မြဲရေးအတွက်ပါ အာရုံစိုက်မှုရဖို့ ကျနော် လုပ်နေတာပါပဲ။
တနာရီလောက်ကြာတော့ ကျနော့်ကို လူတွေ သတိထားမိလာကြတော့တယ်။ ဖြတ်သွားဖြတ်လာတွေထဲက စပ်စုသူ တချို့ဟာ ကျနော့် ဘေးမှာ စပြီး ဝိုင်းလာကြတယ်။ ကျနော်ဘယ်သူလဲ၊ ဘာအလုပ်လုပ်တာလဲ၊ ဘာလို့ အခုလို ကျောက်ရုပ်လို မတ်တပ်ရပ်နေတာလဲဆိုပြီး မေးခွန်းတွေ မေးကြရော။ ရဲလေးယောက်က ကျနော့် ကိုယ်ကို ရှာဖွေကြတယ်။ တယောက်ယောက်ကို စောင့်နေတာလားလို့ မေးတယ်။ ဘာများဖြစ်လို့လဲလို့ မေးကြတယ်။ ကျနော် ဘာမှ မပြောပဲ ငြိမ်ပဲ ငြိမ်နေတယ်။ ကျနော်ဘာမှ မဖြစ်ပါဘူး။ နောက် နာရီပိုင်းအတွင်းမှာပဲ ကျနော့် ဓါတ်ပုံနဲ့ ထူးဆန်းတဲ့ လူသား "ကျောက်ရုပ်လူသား"ဆိုပြီး တွီတာမှာ ပြန့်သွားတယ်။ လူမှုကွန်ယက်ပေါ်မှာ ဒီလှုပ်ရှားမှုက ပေါက်သွားတာပဲ။ မီဒီယာတွေက မထုတ်လွင့်တဲ့ သီတင်းကို ပြည်သူတွေကပဲ Live လွင့်ပြီး ဖြန့်ဝေလိုက်တော့တယ်။ ဒါနဲ့ပဲ သတင်းချယ်နယ်တချို့ကတောင် ဒီအကြောင်းကို စထုတ်လွင့်တော့တယ်။
နောက်ဆုံးမှာတော့ လူသုံးရာလောက် ကျနော်နဲ့ လာပူးပေါင်းတယ်။ ကျနော့်လိုပဲ ကျောက်ရုပ်လို တောင့်တောင့်ကြီး ရပ်ကြတော့တယ်။ ယဉ်ကျေးမှုစင်တာကို မျက်နှာမူ၊ ထွက်သွားဖို့ ငြင်းဆန်ကြရင်းပေါ့။ ဒီလှုပ်ရှားမှုဟာ တူရကီနိုင်ငံ အနှံအပြားကို ပြန့်သွားတယ်။ လူတွေ အများကြီး ကျောက်ရုပ်လို မတ်တပ်ရပ်ကြတယ်။ ရပ်ကြတဲ့ စတိုင်ကတော့ ကိုယ်စတိုင်နဲ့ ကိုယ်ဆိုတော့ ပေါင်းစုံပေါ့ဗျာ။ နိုင်ငံသားတွေဟာ ဆန္ဒပြနည်းအသစ်ကို ရှာတွေ့သွားကြတော့တယ်။ ဒါက အကြမ်းမဖက်တဲ့ နည်း၊ ပုံမှန် မဟုတ်တဲ့ နည်းလေ။ အာဏာရှိသူတွေလည်း ဒီကိစ္စကို ဘယ်လို ကိုင်တွယ်ရမလဲ မသိတော့ဘူး။ ကျနော်တို့ ဆက်ပြီး ဆန္ဒထုတ်ဖော်ကြတယ်။ ပုံစံကလည်း အသစ်မဟုတ်လား။ ပြီးတော့ လူထုရဲ့ ကိုယ်ချင်းစာတာကိုလည်း အများကြီး ပိုရတော့တာပဲ။
ကျနော့်အနေနဲ့တော့ တယောက်ချင်းစီရဲ့ လှုပ်ရှားမှုနဲ့ အမှီအခို ကင်းကင်း လှုပ်ရှားမှုရဲ့ စွမ်းအားကို အပြည့်အဝ ယုံကြည်တယ်။ စုပေါင်းလှုပ်ရှားမှုကို အမြဲတမ်းတော့ စောင့်နေဖို့ မလိုပါဘူး။ တခုခုကို ဆန့်ကျင်ချင်တယ်ဆိုရင် ခင်ဗျား ပုံရိပ်အစစ်အမှန်ကို ပြသဖို့ လှုပ်ရှားသင့်တယ်။ ဘာတွေဆက်ဖြစ်လာနိုင်တယ်ဆိုတာ ဘယ်သူများ သိနိုင်မှာလဲ။ ကျနော်က Performance Artist တယောက်ကို။ ဒီတော့ ရှစ်နာရီ မလှုပ်မလျှတ် မတ်တပ်ရပ်နေလိုက်တယ်ဗျ။ ကဲ အခု ဘာတွေဖြစ်ကုန်လဲ ကြည့်စမ်းပါအုံး။ ခင်ဗျားရော ဘယ်သူလဲ။ ဘယ်လို တော်လှန်မလဲ။

အဓိကနည်းဗျူဟာ
As a choreographer, my attention is on what you can say with the body. Sometimes the body can be political. And sometimes the attitude of a body can be more meaningful than language. Standing Man was actually a political vigil done as performance art. I stood still like a statue for hours. I was standing up to gravity, but also to the regime. It was not a normal vigil, say, with candles and pictures of the fallen. It had a mystery to it. An ambiguity. It was clearly making a statement, telling a story, but people had to figure it out what it meant themselves, and like art, it offered many interpretations.

In general, the authorities didn’t know how to respond to Standing Man. They were disarmed by the silence, discipline, and decorum of my protest. Deputy Prime Minister Arinc told reporters that the standing protests were peaceful and “pleasing to the eye.” “This is not an act of violence,” he said. “We cannot condemn it.” Similarly, a couple of days after my action, pro-government counter-protesters showed up in the square. They quickly realized that their double negation amounted to an affirmation, and left after half an hour.
Standing Man is not a man but an action and a reaction. It can be performed again and again at different places, by different people, in different ways. Some people sat in public squares with a loaf of bread in front of them in mourning for Berkin Elvan, the 14-year-old boy who was hit in the head by a tear gas canister as he was walking to the bakery; others stood still facing the Turkish flag, reading a book. Some were standing still against the destruction of art, some against police violence, others stood still for their freedom. The action became so widespread because it was a simple, nonviolent gesture that anyone could do, and invest with their own meanings.
According to the Turkish criminal code, when three or more people gather together, they can be deemed a terrorist group. This is ridiculous and wrong, and basically criminalizes everyday life. But it is the law. Although one person, standing alone, is not against the law, the police and the government were still suspicious of me, and responded as if I was some kind of threat. My protest didn’t break the law, but by doing something very normal, and everyday — standing in a public space — in an unusual and prolonged way, the Standing Man protests called the ridiculous law into question.
