Celebrating one another as whole people, and celebrating our connection to all other life, is at the center of our efforts to build a better world.
If oppression is a denial of life, then the affirmation of life should be at the center of our efforts to build a better world. Our systems of economy and governance must be built on dancing, singing, playing, praying, debating, and creating alongside our models, policies, and theories. We must listen to our babies and our elders, remember how to celebrate and grieve, and honor the gifts of being human. Though today’s institutions may attempt to define us by our jobs, social class, the stuff we own, or other narrow slices of our identities, we resist by celebrating one another and the larger webs and cycles of life in which we are all enmeshed.
