Joy & Resistance Under the Sun

The scorching summer months are upon us in the Northern Hemisphere! Enjoy the sunshine [or hopefully cooler breezes if you are in the Global South] and these updates from the Beautiful Trouble Team.

TOOLBOX JAM RECAPS

This month was the last of our first round of Mid-month Mondays! A series of free sessions to guide you in exploring the fabulous resources in the BT Universe available on our evolving website, with entries in 8 languages and counting.

If you missed one or any of those sessions, you can still watch the recordings!

Did you participate in any of these sessions or watch a replay on YouTube? Your feedback helps us shape a potential continuation of the free training series. So please let us know!

PRIDE AROUND THE WORLD

As the Rainbow Flag flies high this month thanks to the US Stonewall Rebellion of 1969, we are in steadfast solidarity with the Queer Community. In honor of Pride Worldwide, we have two offerings:

1. Phil Wilmot, our Global Platforms colleague, interviewed Dan Glass, who is a BT compatriot, on his new bookQueer Foot Prints. This interview is the second in a series of interviews with anti-colonial activists throughout the commonwealth.

2. Our toolbox STORY: Countering homophobic policing highlights how angry gay men in the UK during the 80’s formed the lobbying group Stonewall and the more direct-action-focused group, OutRage! They embodied several tactics and strategies that we hope will inspire our global comrades in their struggle against state-sanctioned homophobia.

NEW PODCAST!

TROUBLEMAKERS PODCAST showcases stories of creative resistance from around the globe and examines the tactics, principles, and theories that fuel nonviolent activism.

Through the TROUBLEMAKERS PODCAST, we explore how to rebel in an age when only a few elite have so much control. We speak with a diversity of inspiring people across the planet on the tools they use to subvert and seize power to transform the world.

Coming soon to podcast platforms everywhere -- subscribe to receive future episodes!

TROUBLEMAKERS PODCAST is a transcontinental operation brought to you by Beautiful Trouble, MOVE, the Global Social Movement Centre, MS TCDC, and Global Platforms.

Following the *LEAD* of Farmed Animals

Raucous Chin - Cham - Pu! shouts (aka Rock-Paper-Scissors!) rocked the opening of day three of the LEAD for Farmed Animals training. Losers become champions for their victors, building teams of support for each other. The Beautiful Trouble facilitation team — Sarah Nahar, Carolina Munis, and Rae Abileah — facilitated a four-day training on building people-powered movements for the global leadership training for farmed animal advocates. Read more about the training!
