🎬 No One Is Free When Olive Trees Weep

Join us for a special film screening 📽️🎞️

Our hearts are heavy witnessing the ongoing bombardment of Gaza. In this moment of collective uprising to stop genocide, we wish to center one of the principles of Beautiful Trouble: Create Many Points of Entry, offering those new to the movement meaningful ways to get involved. We know that art and culture often have more power to inspire people to act than facts or statistics.
In this light, we invite you to watch the new award-winning documentary Where Olive Trees Weep. This feature-length film provides an unflinching portrayal of the Palestinian experience under Israeli occupation through the lives of individuals like activist and journalist Ashira Darwish, activist Ahed Tamimi, legendary Israeli journalist Amira Hass, and trauma specialist Dr. Gabor Maté.

Accompanying the film’s premiere, the filmmakers are hosting daily conversations with over 60 activists, artists, professors, historians, spiritual teachers, therapists, journalists, and doctors, o explore the larger context around the film's themes. Guestsinclude Dr. Gabor Maté, Tara Brach, Norman Filkenstein, Ilan Pappe, and Angela Davis.

Beautiful Troublemaker Rae Abileah will facilitate the final panel discussion, Imagining Otherwise: Daring to Dream of a Just and Thriving Palestine, which will feature Bayo Akomolafe, Souliman Khatib, Sami Awad, and meital yaniv. Tune in on Thursday, June 27, at 1 p.m. ET for this one!

Registration for the film gives you automatic access to all of these daily conversations, which will continue through June 27 from 1:00 pm - 2:30 p.m. EDT. Your donation to watch the film directly supports Freedom Farms in Palestine and our work at Beautiful Trouble. A portion of every donation over $20 will fund sustainable olive tree farms, providing economic empowerment amid oppressive Israeli policies that deprive Palestinians of land, water, and basic rights. If cost is a barrier, you can watch for free at the same link.

Where Olive Trees Weep was directed by Zaya and Maurizio Benazzo, founders of Science and Nonduality (SAND), with original music by renowned composer Armand Amar.

If you would like to set up a community screening with your local group, you can also learn more about hosting a screening during the premiere window in your community theater or event space. You can also share this film on Facebook and Instagram

Along with this film, we’d like to give a shout out to the new film Beautiful Trouble (love that name!) by BT Trainer Dan Glass, premiering in Europe and the UK now.
