Recap: First Half of 2017

Check out a recap of our activities during the first half of 2017 and stay tuned as we turn up the heat this summer.

Beautiful Trouble has rapidly scaled up offerings and ability to support workshops and actions across the U.S. and around the globe in the wake of 45’s election. We want to take a moment to acknowledge and thank all of our partners and funders who have made this work possible. Here’s an overview of some of the work we’ve accomplished together:

Training Partnerships: As we scale up the resistance to respond to Trump-era shock politics, more and more organizations are approaching us about expanding traditional organizing mechanisms. In this vein, we worked with organizational affiliates from Bend the Arc in Kansas City and the Bay Area to build new capacity for nonviolent action, partnered with several groups to host a training of trainers to level up nonviolent practices with 33 organizers in the northeast, and hosted a creative direct action workshop for 500+ Angelenos with LA’s Hammer Museum. We highly recommend you check out the full playback of that mass-training experiment here.

Resourcing the Movement: On (Not-My) President’s Day, Beautiful Trouble launched the Resistance Hotline – a new take on a “1-800 support line” offering training and nonviolent action support to counter Trumpism and build a strong resistance movement. For starters, the Resistance Hotline debuts as a Facebook page & phone hotline. Get in touch with us on Facebook, or by calling 1-844-NVDA-NOW and an expert direct action trainer will be in touch within 48 hours.

The Rising…It’s Happening: We are so proud to announce that the much-anticipated follow-up to the bestselling Beautiful Trouble: A Toolbox for Revolution is on it’s way. The book will be out in just a few short months and we’re eager to scatter it far and wide. We’ll ship a copy to the first 50 Patrons pledging $5 or more per month, as soon as they arrive. Alternately, you can pre-order the book directly from our publisher.

Whew! That’s hardly all of it, but we wanted you to get a sense of where we’ve been and where we’re headed. As always, we couldn’t do this without you. Get in touch if you want to organize a training, request facilitation support, or hold a consultation on strategic creative action. Let us know what awesome stuff are you involved with or think we should be involved with. We’d love to hear from you and of course, we’d love to have your support!
