“Art is a Hammer” with BT’s Gan Golan at Netroots 2013

Beautiful Trouble’s new Director of Training, Gan Golan, will co-host a training session entitled “Art is a Hammer: Reshaping the Narrative Through Cultural Intervention” at the 2013 gathering of Netroots Nation, June 20 – 23 in San Jose, California.

Along with Liz Manne and Favianna Rodriguez, Golan will lead participants through a discussion of basic cultural strategies, web-based art interventions, and the use of satire and public spectacle to create works of art and culture that can reach new audiences and shift the debate.

Netroots Nation 2013 is the eighth annual gathering of bloggers, newsmakers, social justice advocates, labor and organizational leaders, grassroots organizers and online activists, who all come together with the goal of learning how to more effectively use technology to influence public discourse. This year’s convention will include 80 panels and 40 training sessions, along with talks and film screenings designed to educate, stimulate and inspire the nation’s next generation of progressive leaders.

As our new Director of Training, Golan is helping to bring the grassroots activists, artists and strategists who wrote Beautiful Trouble to your campus, community, or organization for a hands-on training. The Beautiful Trouble Trainer Corps offers skills trainings in the tools, tactics and principles of effective creative activism.
