Theo Ellin Ballew

Theo is a scifi-poet, educator, and web dev-designer. They run Red Calendar (a big-tech-free arts and action calendar that helps NYC gather without big tech middlemen) and ORAL.pub (a multilingual publication of net.art and e-poetry). Theo's also the author of An Inch Thick (2025) and Bedtime Stories (forthcoming, 2026). They've taught e-poetry/net.art, web dev, UX/UI design, cyberfeminism, computational political action, and new media theory, mostly at NYU's ITP. Right now, Theo's most excited about learning Linux, listening to more experimental contemporary opera, seizing tech tools for the liberation, collectivizing Luddite refusal of big tech, and embroidering their next book cover. They grew up on 4-11-hour drives through the U.S. desert, often landing in or leaving Phoenix.
