Dragonfly (aka Robin LaVerne Wilson)

Communicatrix

Dragonfly [aka Robin LaVerne Wilson] is the GenX descendant of enslaved Afrikans in North America, was raised in a military family, and accepts all pronouns said with love and/or respect. Their first direct action brought equity to how kindergarten attendance was taken so that those with last names towards the end of the alphabet weren’t always the last to go play. Their first political action [wrongful] arrest was at an anti-Koch Brothers rally (at the notorious Andrew Boyd’s infamous invitation).

In 2016 they accidentally ran for senator of New York State on the Green Party ticket. They have been a frequent troublemaking co-conspirator with The Stop Shopping Choir, E.A.R.T.H. Lab SF, and as flamboyant social justice alter ego, Miss Justice Jester. Their performance art series, Absconded Project, is a moving meditation on the geographically hidden histories of enslaved and displaced peoples. They are in the Beautiful Trouble Training Network and adore a good spreadsheet or slide deck.

Robin earned a $50K+ student loan debt for her fancy undergrad degree from Rutgers University, and their pending MA in Applied Theatre from CUNY School of Professional Studies patiently awaits the completion of their thesis. They love international travel–but since COVID has become the primary caregiver of their 80-something mother and 2-year-old Russian Blue cat.
