Are you a detail-oriented up-and-coming activist with a passion for social change, social media, and getting stuff done? Want to expand your skill-set and increase your organizing mojo? Here is an opportunity to work with a dynamic network of artist-activist changemakers as we continue to grow Beautiful Trouble.

Beautiful Trouble is a book, web toolbox and international network of artist-activist trainers whose mission is to make grassroots movements more creative and more effective. Praised by Naomi Klein as “elegant and incendiary,” the book is being used by campaigns and classrooms across North America and Europe, just sold its 10,000th copy, and is being translated into seven languages. The people who came together to write Beautiful Trouble then stayed together and became an alliance of artists, trainers and creative campaigners who continue to make, teach, and celebrate game-changing creative activism.


Beautiful Trouble is looking for an intern to work closely with our Training, Outreach, and Promotions Teams.

  • Start date: September 1, 2015
  • Pay: Stipend – $200/month
  • Hours: 10 hours/week (fixed)
  • Duration: 6 months minimum; candidates that can commit to a year will be given priority consideration. After a successful year of internship, an opportunity exists to move into the Beautiful Trouble organization.
  • Location: Anywhere there is the interweb, although Los Angeles would be a huge plus
  • Willing to work with your college for course credit (if applicable)

Candidate will be responsible for:

  • Helping to drive Beautiful Trouble social media including Facebook and Twitter
  • Preparing communications including email announcements and blog posts
  • Providing administrative support for the Training Team
  • Supporting the creation of Beautiful Trouble’s Training Library

Your skills and experience should include:

  • Previous social media promotion and marketing
  • Serious attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills
  • A wicked sense of humor
  • Ability to focus (multitasking is overrated!)
  • A love of creative approaches to social change
  • Graphic design a big plus
